September of Discoveries in Govone

Between Walks, History, and Nature

September 2025 will be a special opportunity to discover Govone in all its facets: from the village streets to natural views, up to the Royal Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two initiatives, promoted by Govone Residenza Sabauda ETS in collaboration with local institutions and organizations, will take the public on a journey through culture, landscape, and traditions.

Royal Community Tour – September 6 and 13

Royal Walk – September 21

An event designed for those who love experiencing the landscape by walking, part of the larger project β€œThe Ways of the Kings” of the Consortium of the Royal Residences of Savoy.

The Ways of the Kings, through their Royal Walks, pursue the goal of enhancing the system of the 16 Savoy Residences of Piedmont by creating and promoting a β€œwalk” to discover the Residences themselves and the surrounding areas in a new, attentive, and mindful way, combining values of culture, nature, well-being, physical activity, and sustainability.

Starting and ending at the Royal Castle of Govone, the Royal Walk offers two loop routes through vineyards and hills:

  • 15 km (350 m elevation gain) – start at 8:30 AM
  • 8 km (180 m elevation gain) – start at 9:00 AM

The experience is enriched by refreshment points along the route and a symbolic β€œtraveler’s kit.” Upon arrival, the traditional dessert bonet will welcome participants, along with the opportunity for a convivial meal in the Castle Park with ravioli del plin and wine prepared by the Pro Loco of Govone.

By completing the walk, participants will receive the stamp on the Royal Passport, which grants reduced admission to the Castle of Govone until November 9, 2025.

EXPLORE

DISCOVER THE VISIT ROUTE

Cross through time as you explore the Castle’s rooms.

Initially a noble palace, then a royal residence, and finally a community hub for all the people of Govone, the Castle weaves together centuries of history. Visiting it means retracing the steps that shaped it into the multifaceted—and therefore unique—place it is today.

DISCOVER GOVONE

THE PARK, THE GARDENS, THE VILLAGE, AND THE HIKING PATHS

Govone extends beyond my walls. It is an entire community that takes care of the magnificent places it inhabits. I invite you to explore everything that surrounds me: the park and the gardens, the greenhouse, the intimate rose garden, the village, and the outdoor trails immersed in nature, which you can explore on foot or by bike.

The park, inhabited by squirrels, woodpeckers, jays, embraces the castle all around with its hedges of boxwood, beech trees, elms, and cypresses.

The gardens gather and showcase Maria Cristina's passion for botany, particularly for roses, displaying various splendid antique varieties.

The historic center extends the visit beyond the castle walls, revealing the authenticity of a village that, while continuing to live, preserves its memory.

The trails lead you along the edges of the constellation of which the castle is the protagonist, through fields, vineyards, and hazelnut groves, allowing you to discover the land.
